Hand in Hand Eastern Africa – Tanzania (HIHEA TZ) is a registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that has been operational in Tanzania since 2018. It operates under the broader framework of the Hand in Hand Global Network, a renowned international movement focused on poverty alleviation through entrepreneurship. Since its inception in Tanzania, HIHEA TZ has been committed to empowering marginalized communities, especially women and youth, by equipping them with the skills and tools necessary to create sustainable livelihoods. The organization’s core strategy involves a unique “enterprise development model” which follows a four-step approach: social mobilization, training in entrepreneurship and business skills, access to credit through internal savings and lending groups, and facilitating market linkages. Through this model, HIHEA TZ helps vulnerable individuals build small and micro enterprises that generate income and improve household welfare. HIHEA TZ operates in various regions of Tanzania including Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Manyara, and Morogoro. The NGO targets rural populations where economic opportunities are limited, aiming to create employment at the grassroots level and reduce dependency. By promoting self-reliance, the organization contributes to community resilience and national development goals.
