DarTU is the outcome of the transformation of Tumaini University Dar es Salaam College (TUDARCo) into a fully-fledged university on January 01, 2024. DarTU is owned by the Eastern Coastal Diocese (ECD) of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT). TUDARCo was established as a Constituent College of Tumaini University Makumira, in April 2003. DarTU is fully accredited by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) and granted Certificate of Accreditation (CoA) No. 20231026-05 of 26th October 2023. This level of accreditation was achieved after years of quality improvement, enhancement of governance systems and compliance with the Tanzanian Universities Act, Cap 346. DarTU delivers training at degree and non-degree levels, and carries out research and provides public engagement services. The university offers holistic education, where intellectual curiosity, talent creativity, and critical thinking are nurtured, preparing students to contribute to the world as honest professionals, responsible global citizens, accountable leaders, successful entrepreneurs and, above all, problem solvers.
