ASA Microfinance Tanzania Limited (ASA Tanzania) was incorporated under the Companies Act 2002 (No. 93819) of Tanzania in September 2012. ASA Tanzania is a subsidiary of ASA International, one of the largest microfinance companies in the world. ASA Tanzania started operations in 2014. ASA Tanzania is a for-profit non-deposit taking microfinance institution, providing small, socially responsible loans for income-generating purposes to low-income, predominantly female entrepreneurs. They provide these loans using the ASA Model of microfinance. ASA Tanzania has branches in 8 regions (Dar es salaam, Morogoro, Tanga, Kilimanjaro, Arusha, Mwanza, Pwani and Zanzibar) with the largest number of branches in Dar es salaam. ASA Tanzania is indirectly wholly owned by ASA International. Tanzania, officially the United Republic of Tanzania, is a relatively large country in East Africa that shares its borders with many countries, including Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The name Tanzania itself derives from the country’s two states, Zanzibar and Tanganyika. Tanzania has a population of 45 million people according to 2012 census and 885,800 square kilometres of land. Through the Client Complaint Committee clients can provide feedback on our services or lodge complaints about inappropriate behaviour or treatment by any of the Group’s staff. This is facilitated through inter alia client complaint boxes inside our branches.
