Manyoni District Council, located in Singida Region, covers an area of approximately 9,393 square kilometers and has a population of approximately 279,069 according to the 2022 National Census. Its headquarters is Manyoni Town, known as a commercial and transportation hub, as it has become a key link between the T3 highway and the National Railway from Dar es Salaam to Mwanza. There are 69 primary schools and 19 secondary schools in the entire district. Schools such as Manyoni Secondary, Mlewa, Mwanzi and Amani Girls are leading the way in providing quality education. The project of installing rainwater tanks in several schools has also brought benefits to students and teachers, reducing disease and increasing hygiene. The district has benefited from the expansion of roads, railways and other public projects such as the Mbwasa irrigation system and the Sasilo water well, through tenders coordinated by the council. The new “standard gauge” railway is also eliminating dependence on the old railway. Manyoni has the Kizigo Game Reserve, home to wildlife such as elephants, giraffes and lions, which contribute to sustainable tourism. Manyoni District Council continues to move forward through sustainable investments in education, health, water, transport and tourism. Strong leadership and multi-stakeholder collaboration are paving the way for economic growth and social development in Singida Region.
