MINISTRY OF HEALTH, CALL AT WORK – October 2025

The Ministry of Health of the United Republic of Tanzania is the government institution responsible for formulating, implementing, and monitoring national health policies, programs, and strategies aimed at improving the health and well-being of all Tanzanians. Guided by its mission to provide quality, equitable, accessible, and sustainable health services, the Ministry plays a central role in strengthening the country’s health system and ensuring the delivery of essential medical care at all levels. The Ministry of Health oversees hospitals, health centers, dispensaries, and community health programs across the nation. It provides leadership in disease prevention and control, health promotion, maternal and child health, nutrition, and environmental health. Through collaboration with regional and local government authorities, the Ministry ensures that healthcare services reach both urban and rural populations. the Ministry focuses on key priorities such as reducing maternal and infant mortality, combating communicable and non-communicable diseases, improving access to clean water and sanitation, and strengthening health infrastructure. It also works to enhance human resources for health through training, recruitment, and retention of qualified medical professionals. The Ministry is also responsible for regulating pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, and traditional medicine practices through agencies such as the Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority (TMDA). Operating from its headquarters in Dodoma, the Ministry of Health continues to promote innovation, accountability, and community engagement in health service delivery. By prioritizing prevention, equity, and universal health coverage, the Ministry remains committed to building a healthier nation and ensuring that every Tanzanian has access to quality healthcare services.
