PASS Trust is an organization established in 2000 as a project initiated by the Government of Tanzania in collaboration with the Danish Government under the Agricultural Support Program. The initiative aimed to address the challenges faced by smallholder farmers, agribusinesses, and other stakeholders in accessing financial services for agricultural development. Operations commenced in 2002, and after notable achievements, the project transitioned into a formally registered entity known as the PASS Trust in 2007. PASS Trust primarily focuses on facilitating access to finance and business development services within the agricultural sector. It achieves this by providing credit guarantees to financial institutions, thereby enabling farmers and agribusinesses to secure loans with reduced collateral requirements. Additionally, the Trust offers advisory and technical support to enhance productivity and sustainability in agriculture. The organization works closely with financial institutions, development partners, and stakeholders to ensure that its services reach the target groups effectively. It has played a significant role in empowering smallholder farmers, promoting agribusiness growth, and contributing to the overall transformation of Tanzania’s agricultural sector. By bridging the gap between financial institutions and the agricultural community, PASS Trust continues to support Tanzania’s journey toward achieving food security, poverty reduction, and economic growth. Its innovative approach and commitment to development have positioned it as a critical player in the country’s agricultural financing landscape.
