The Tanzania Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics Services Agency (TEMESA) was formed through the Government Notice No. 254 published on 26th August 2005 to assume responsibilities formerly held by the Electrical and Mechanical (E&M) Division of the Ministry of Works. As established by the Executive Agencies Act No. 30 of the year 1997, TEMESA is to effectively and reliably provide services in electrical, mechanical and electronics engineering as well as safe ferry transportation and hire services to government institutions and the public. What now has been it’s Tamesa’s mission incorporates maintenance as well as repair services of governmental machinery and vehicles, provision of specialized technical services and management of public ferries operating in different water bodies in Tanzania. In its efforts to improve public infrastructure, TEMESA has also extended its services to private customers to enhance the quality of service delivery and foster the development of modern technology in the transport and infrastructure sectors of the country. A key component of TEMESA’s activities involves the renting and hiring of plant and machinery resources including vehicles for various government projects. This not only assists in saving costs but reinforces optimal use of state’s assets.
