The Tanzania Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics Services Agency (TEMESA) is a government executive agency established under Government Notice No. 254 of 26th August 2005. It was formed to take over the functions previously carried out by the Electrical and Mechanical (E&M) Division of the Ministry of Works. TEMESA was created in line with the Executive Agencies Act No. 30 of 1997, with the objective of enhancing efficiency, accountability, and professionalism in the delivery of essential public services. TEMESA’s core mandate is to provide high-quality electrical, mechanical, and electronic engineering services to government institutions and the general public. Its services include maintenance and repair of government vehicles, plant and machinery, as well as provision of equipment hire services. By offering reliable technical solutions, TEMESA ensures that public institutions operate smoothly and cost-effectively. TEMESA plays a critical role in providing safe and reliable ferry transport services across various water bodies in Tanzania. Ferries under TEMESA management connect communities, facilitate trade, and enhance accessibility, particularly in areas where bridges or alternative transport routes are not available. The agency is dedicated to maintaining strict safety standards and improving water transport efficiency, thus contributing to both social and economic development. TEMESA provides electronics services, including maintenance of ICT systems, communication infrastructure, and other specialized electronic equipment.
