Tanzania Education Network/Mtandao wa Elimu Tanzania (TEN/MET) is a dynamic national network comprising 245 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working collectively to improve the education sector in Tanzania Mainland. Established to serve as a unifying platform, TEN/MET envisions a national education system that provides every Tanzanian child with the opportunity to access and engage in quality, inclusive, and equitable education. The network plays a key role in promoting education as a fundamental human right and a foundation for national development. TEN/MET’s mission is to coordinate and strengthen education CSOs in Tanzania through various strategic initiatives, including networking, capacity building, research, and advocacy. These efforts aim to empower members and stakeholders to effectively influence policy, improve accountability, and advocate for meaningful reforms that enhance the education system. The network works in alignment with national education goals and international frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4—which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. TEN/MET also supports initiatives that address challenges such as gender inequality, inadequate infrastructure, poor teacher welfare, and low learning outcomes, especially in underserved communities. TEN/MET has been instrumental in organizing national dialogues, publishing research reports, conducting monitoring and evaluation of education policies, and offering technical support to grassroots organizations. As an umbrella organization, TEN/MET fosters collaboration among government institutions, development partners, NGOs, and local communities. Its commitment to transparency, innovation, and participatory engagement continues to inspire progress towards a better and more just education future for all Tanzanian children.
