TANROADS, Vacancies – April 2025

The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is a government agency established on 1st July 2000, as per Government Gazette Notice No. 293 of 2000, under Section 3(1) of the Executive Agencies Act No. 30 of 1997. Its creation was driven by the goal of achieving significant improvements in road maintenance and development, focusing on quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. TANROADS plays a critical role in managing and maintaining Tanzania’s extensive road network, ensuring it meets the growing demands of transportation and economic development. The agency is responsible for overseeing a total of 35,000 kilometers of roads, which include 12,786 kilometers of trunk roads and 22,214 kilometers of regional roads. These responsibilities are outlined in the Roads Act No. 13 of 2007, with subsequent reclassification updates up to June 2015. The roads under TANROADS’ management are crucial for facilitating trade, connecting various regions of the country, and enhancing accessibility for rural and urban populations. TANROADS’ mandate includes road construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation, ensuring that the infrastructure meets international standards and supports the country’s socio-economic growth. The agency also emphasizes cost-efficiency in its operations, leveraging modern technologies and best practices in road engineering to deliver durable and sustainable road networks. Through its efforts, TANROADS has contributed to improved mobility, reduced travel times, and enhanced economic activities across Tanzania. Its strategic role in infrastructure development aligns with the government’s vision of transforming Tanzania into a middle-income economy by providing reliable and efficient transport systems.
