Toyota Tanzania Limited, Vacancies – April 2025

The Toyota brand was founded in Tanzania by the Karimjee family through the International Motor Mart company. The company has a long and strong history in East Africa, dating back to 1825 when they first arrived as traders from Cutch, India, to the island of Zanzibar. International Motor Mart was originally established as a trading company in 1927 and officially registered as an independent company in 1942. In the 1950s, the company was a representative of various American and British automobile companies, including Willys Jeep, Nash Rambler, Commer Trucks, and Rootes Group brands such as Humber, Hillman, and Sunbeam. Through Karimjee Jivanjee Ltd, the Karimjee family has contributed significantly to the introduction and distribution of modern automobiles in Tanzania. Toyota, which is now the leading brand in the country’s automobile market, was established through the efforts of this company, stimulating development in the transportation sector and the country’s economy as a whole.  The history of Karimjee Jivanjee Ltd reflects the dramatic changes in business in East Africa, from traditional trade to the consolidation of investment in the automotive sector. The company has not only become a key link in modern transportation, but is also part of Tanzania’s economic history.
